But if I wasn’t- I would not know what a girl, her water backpack, and her running shoes are capable of.
So as many in the Wisconsin running community know- the Fox Cities Marathon two weekends ago was CANCELED because of the weather. Wawawaaaaaaaa. It was a bittersweet moment. Relief to not get drenched and be a little torture some- ok probably half… or completely miserable. But… disappointing because of the hours of training to prepare for this single day. Marathon Day. Fox Cities allowed a virtual option to still achieve the medal. Many other organizations also did/are offering a discount to the Fox Citians.
But two medals for one race… had me thinking. And how many can say they ran 26.2 completely on their own… for fun…
Well I can!!!!

I got a little more than half a mile in and turned around.. not kidding. My hip has been giving me problems and today was not going to be any exception… so…. I did the unthinkable. Ran back home and took an ibuprofen.
Getting 5 miles in was tough! My hip was stiff and there was several flooded parts of the Oak Leaf Trail. Thus, I hit the streets!

Mile 10 provided some excellent photo ops! With all the rain we had not only was the trail flooded but the water levels high!
JustRUNt Fox Cities Virtual Marathon Mile 18With all the puddles and not making the best decisions about avoiding the flooded areas….At mile 22 I stopped back home and changed to dry shoes. Yeah for dry shoes- but that allowed my muscles and definitely my hip to get a little cold and stiff.
After things warmed up I was able to get an ok mile 23 in, and then pretty much struggled through 24, 25, and 26. At only 12 and a half and 13 minutes per mile- but I finished!! I submitted my mileage!! So hopefully my Fox Cities medal is on the way!!!
A few hours later here- very stiff and sore hip. After a (hopefully) good nights sleep tonight- we’ll see how stiff the right hip is in the morning.
