10 Miles 2020

So with the news of all races being canceled, my motivation sadly decreased too. I dropped my mileage back and then worked to 8 last weekend, most runs have been on the treadmill this past month and that doesn’t help me either. BUT yesterday in the beautiful 50 degrees and sunny weather, I got 10 miles in. We were painting that stairs triangle and after about half way done, starting at the top and working down, there just wasn’t enough space for two of us. My fake hubby said – ‘if you want to just go for your run now…’ … Continue reading 10 Miles 2020

And So It Begins…2020 Marathon Training

Started myself off slow in December after taking 6 weeks really to try to heal from last season. Started with a mile on the treadmill and then quickly two… Next thing you know I was able to log a nice slow and easy 5 miles. The long runs I really prefer outside, but as you can tell Mother Nature had other ideas so every other week I am stuck inside on the treadmill. At least I get to see outside while having breakfast! This last weekend I am up to 7 miles. A little sore today- mostly in my ankles, … Continue reading And So It Begins…2020 Marathon Training

Squash Stir-Fry

So just before Thanksgiving I went to the farmers market in West Allis. We all went 4 generations, 4 gals. We wanted one last market before the season ended and wanted to stock up on Squash. Squash normally stays good in a milk crate or bushel basket in my basement for 2 to 3 months and it’s a nice ‘fresh’ veggie to have on cold weather days. So I do normally grab a few. This trip however was a bit of disastrous fun. Bags of squash for $5. Mom and I looked at each other- want half. YES! Another bag- … Continue reading Squash Stir-Fry

Falling for the Fall Farmers Market

I love the farmers market. Who doesn’t?! Bay View has one Saturday’s mornings the rest of October. Then West Allis is where I go thru Thanksgiving. Walked over with my cart this last weekend as I had squash and pumpkins in mind. Living less than a mile away- this cart is FANTASTIC for hauling the heavy stuff. I do wish the cart wheels were a little bigger, and that it had a ‘second’ layer hatch like a friends of mines… but hey for a few bucks thrifting it has been doing just fine for years now. But seriously.. should I … Continue reading Falling for the Fall Farmers Market

Biking or Rummaging? Both!

So I couldn’t get my final training run in today because the back left knee area is just saying NO! And rather than risk a real injury – tried some biking today and will work on recovery the rest of this week. Hopefully that goes well and I can run 12 miles or so next weekend before the Fox Cities marathon in two- yikes but YES it’s only TWO weeks away. My better half wanted to get in a bike ride so he came along! Here was our haul: I like yard decorations, especially plastic light ups that last a … Continue reading Biking or Rummaging? Both!

20 Miles- Fox Cities here I come!

Last weekend was my 20 mile training run. Started off slow and the fake hubby was with me … 3 miles and he turned around for a total of a 6 mile run (he mowed the lawn then!! Yeah!) and I kept trucking on. As usual my pit stop was at the golf course before heading into Grant Park. I love this part of the trail, who am I kidding I love the entire section of the Oak Leaf Trail has been my home court these years. It was only last year that I moved past the 13 mile mark … Continue reading 20 Miles- Fox Cities here I come!

17 Miles in the Books

Was in West Bend this weekend and decided to hit the Eisenbahn Trial to get in my 17 miles. https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/name/eisenbahn/ Earlier in the week I printed off an online map to prepare some bathroom and water stops. For me- it was about 1.5 miles to the trail – winding down some residential streets and hitting the trail around the 10 mile marker- I began my journey. Heading north along the trail I passed several parks and the conservancy. 3.5 ish miles in was Barton Park. A little single field baseball diamond, little tikes playground equipment and a pavilion with bathrooms … Continue reading 17 Miles in the Books

Fantastic day & Dinner

Yesterday at the Badgerland strider fun run at south shore in Bay View. I was able- thanks to my hunny- to run 8:42 a mile for the 3 mile fun run. After the heat, the shin splints, and the antibiotics needed last weekend I am very pleased with the pace he helped me achieve. #RUNt is back! As always they serve a fantastic array of food and berverages after the run. RUNt on! Continue reading Fantastic day & Dinner

RUNt 26.2

Last year I ran my first marathon. Motivating myself to run longer and longer distances was tough. It required some lifestyle changes – no more sleeping in on Saturdays, no more late Friday nights, more nutritious eating habits… but in September it all came together and I completed my first marathon in roughly 4 hours and 30 minutes. Most runners have some runnerisms – thoughts that cross their mind as the past each mile marker. For me the 20 mile mark is where things start to get even tougher, I really started to wonder why on earth I PAID money … Continue reading RUNt 26.2
